To the players trying out for West Women's Sevens All-star team,

The coaching staff wants to thank all players who have participated thus far and given of their time, money and BODY to be a part of West 7s, both at the Cape Fear venue and most recently, Kansas City 7s last weekend.

Playing 7s at the territorial level is a challenge, and we hope that you all crave that competition. However, it does take a measure of sacrifice and commitment. Remember, that being part of the West 7s team is how you get viewed by the National 7s Team Coaching Staff. We urge all of you to STAY involved at the territorial level. The West Territory needs longevity and some
level of retention to experience more success and improve our national ranking as a territory! We would love to see ALL of you return next year and hope we do.

I believe Cape Fear was a wake up call for each of you. The competition made you aware of your fitness level, skill and knowledge of the game, commitment to an elite level of rugby, motivation to inspire teammates, and drive to be a better player. We walked away knowing we could compete, but clear that it would take a time, money, commitment, sweat and determination.

We entered y'all into the KC tournament with the goals to improve, connect, unite, learn, bond and determine the right energy, strength and skill to complete the West Womens 7s All Star team. This gave us the ability to make changes, additions and new combinations of players to be able to select a solid unit. We were pleased to see a natural unfolding of talent, skill, support and
determination. It was just what the West needed before the 7s NASC at end of August. As stated previously, we used KC 7s as a second selection vehicle, giving certain players a second look and some a first look.

The two venues were successful opportunities to watch you ladies perform. We are very grateful for each player who tried out for the West Womens Sevens team. We appreciate your hard work, time, and effort. We look forward to working with you all again next year.

I know that you will continue to train hard in order to be fitter in Utah than you were at Cape Fear and Kansas City. You must not rest on your laurels! The fitter we are, the better we will do in Utah.
